Last day in Hanford

I thought i would start a blog so that I could keep everyone posted on the adventures in the Las Vegas Valley. As I'm sure you all know I was accepted to be a Teach for America corps member in the Las Vegas Valley on January 20th. Although Las Vegas was definitely not my first choice, I'm really looking forward to becoming a Nevada resident and starting this adventure.
I was assigned to teach 3rd grade at Joseph Manch elementary school in NE Las Vegas. The school is located right across from Nellis Airforce Base (and a womens correctional facility, woot). Its pretty far away from the condo that i'll be living in but they just rebuilt the school this past year so it will be brand new when I move in. I'm really looking forward to seeing the new building since its supposed to have incorporated a lot of green building practices, which will be exciting for the environmentalist in me.
Anyways this is going to be a very short first blog. My parents and I are leaving at 7am tomorrow to make the six hour drive to Las Vegas. I'm just hoping that I'm completely packed and that all of my stuff will fit in the two cars that we are taking, its going to be close.
I'll be in Las Vegas until June 28th and then after that I'll be in LA until August 1st for the summer training. I would looooove to receive letters so if you want to send me a letter between June 29th and July 22nd you can send it to:
